BACKGROUND:
The famous Sanskrit Shloka from Manusmriti reads, ‘Yatra naryastu pujyante ramante tatra Devata’. What it implies is that where women are honoured, divinity blossoms. It is an apt description for the women since times immemorial who have contributed immensely towards the community, society and nation building in various roles. With the changing times and the advent of technology, they have taken up new challenges and ventured out into the new territories for them.
Women in Leadership Conclave salutes those women who have by their sheer perseverance, dedication and innovative approaches have broken through the glass ceiling and charted a new course for themselves and for the benefit of the society at large. The conclave aspires to challenge the stereotypes, fight bias/es, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate the achievements of the women and collectively work for a gender equal world.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY -2023
Every year, International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 to highlight the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for gender parity. The Campaign theme for the year 2023- “Embrace Equity” stands for the fact that an equal world is an enabled world.
WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP CONCLAVE-2023
The Third Edition of Women in Leadership Conclave is dedicated to the Women leaders from different walks of life who have played a key role in breaking the barriers and charting the road less travelled. These are the ladies who have broken through the glass ceilings and carved out a niche for themselves while trying to make the world a better and peaceful place to live in sans controversies and conflicts. In consonance with the theme of International Women’s Day 2023- “Embrace Equity” and India’s theme of ”Digit ALL : Innovation and technology for gender equality ”,the conclave strives to highlight how with their sheer grit, determination and resolve, women have made it possible to be seen on an equal footing with the men en-route to gender parity. In this backdrop, SHE – Society for Health & Empowerment of Women is organizing the 3rd Edition of ‘Women in Leadership Conclave’ in collaboration with Lok Kala Parishad in New Delhi.
WHY THE CONCLAVE
Women have been involved in various aspects of nation building, but their role and responsibility has not come to the fore as it should have been. Therefore, it needs to be recognized, highlighted and appreciated at different levels.
For any country aspiring to move high up on the social and economic growth, it is desirable to have an equal participation of the women in various sectors. India aspires to become a US $ 5 trillion economy by 2024 and the women, who constitute around 50% of this economy need to be the partners in progress.
The Women in Leadership Conclave aims to bring women leaders from various fields at one platform and felicitate them for their exemplary feats - achieving their goals, spreading the message – “Yes We Can” around and shining as role models for the generation next. The event will reflect India’s theme of One Earth, One Family, One Future derived from Vasudhaiwa Kurumbakam, the essence of India’s composite culture and ethos.
OBJECTIVES OF WILC-2023:
- To bring 30 women leaders from 15 different fields- Education, Art &Culture, Social Service&/Self Help Groups, Medical/Health Sciences, Applied Sciences- Engineering &/Scientists, Agriculture & Environment, Entrepreneurs, Finance, Governance-Administration&/Security, Legal field, Sports, Diplomacy on the same platform & felicitate them
- To learn from their experiences, suggestions, opinions and vision.
- To formulate the guiding principles along the theme of India’s G20 Presidency- Vaudhaiwa Kutumbakam. Or One Earth, One Family, One Future
- To enhance the participation of women in achieving sustainable development goals by extending the outreach to women through evidence- based practices.
- To recognize and felicitate the pioneering works by the women in India especially those which have not been noticed or given due credit.
- To highlight the facets of Indian art and culture espoused by women leaders from academia and culture.
- To encourage the spirit of knowledge, innovation and entrepreneurship among the women.
- To promote more community participation with the involvement of civil society representatives.
- To provide a platform for interaction, networking and exchange of ideas among women.
- To enhance the understanding about how they can be the change agent for the change they want to see.

G20 &India’s Quest for Global Peace, harmony and Women’s rights.
SHE CONNECT EXHIBITION
An exhibition titled- SHE Connect, will be organized at the venue which will be open for the public. Display of portraits of women as role models, products developed by women entrepreneurs and Self-Help Groups from different states is being organized. In addition, organizations and / Institutions will provide more information on women friendly schemes and initiatives.
BEST PRACTICES
Three Women Leaders will share their journey towards fulfillment of their dreams, goals and aspirations. The idea is to inspire the generation next and motivate them to contribute for the noble cause keeping in mind the spirit of New India.
The Conclave will also provide an opportunity for the participants and the people to expand their network, forge new linkages and partnerships for a better tomorrow
A special edition of the deliberations and key points emerging out of the Conclave will be published online in the form of an E book as a repository of knowledge.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS
SHE - Society for Health and Empowerment of Women is a Delhi based Non-Profit Organization of the women, for the women and by the women. Set up in 2018, it is working for the Empowerment of women in various sectors like health, sanitation, environment, education, sustainable development, Governance etc. and creating an enabling environment for the girls and the women.
Lok Kala Parishad is a Delhi based NGO since 2005. It has been working in the field of environment and sanitation across the country. Its focus has been on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and promoting the interests of art and culture.
